2018
Love at first sight?
In April 2018, mutual friends arrange dinner in San Francisco and an evening of ping pong at Spin SF. Scott and Lily connect over their common interest in the outdoors and competitive spirit. Lily beats Scott in ping pong. Scott later learns that Lily owns and carries her own ping pong paddle!
2018
First date
Eager to see Lily again, Scott invites Lily to go hiking the following weekend at Claremont Canyon Regional Preserve near Berkeley for their first date.
2019
Exploring together
Lily and Scott bond over their shared love of travel, wine and hiking. They visit Lake Tahoe, Olympic National Forest, and the Channel Islands. On weekends they explore backpacking trails around the Bay Area and head to their favorite winery in Healdsburg.
2020 - 2021
... then Covid happened
Lily temporarily moves in with Scott in San Francisco to wait out the pandemic. "Temporary" will turn into 3 years as they hunker down for the long-haul.
New hobbies take root during lockdown including botany and cooking.
2022
Going out again
As things slowly get back to normal, they reemerge from their cave and begin socializing with their friends and family again.
2023
Proposal
A carefully planned proposal requires a sunny day overlooking San Francisco at the site of their first date in Claremont Canyon Regional Preserve. After several days of rain, the clouds finally part on January 1, 2023. She says yes!

Married!
They were married in a civil ceremony at San Francisco City Hall on February 14, 2023.

They didn't know that 250 couples also picked Valentine's Day, nor that the San Francisco Chronicle would capture the spectacle and select this photo for the next day's newspaper!
2024
It took them a minute to catch their breaths, but they knew they wanted to celebrate with their dear family and friends. They look forward to sharing their special moment with you all soon!
